Questions & Answers
J-RoMeO will try to answer your questions when he can. Please no explicit language because your questions might get posted up for everyone to see.... Thanks
1. How is Toby Love and Prince Royce behind
the cameras? (Jessica)
Behind the cameras they are both normal guys who joke around, and act like regular human beings. What I like the most about them are they are verrrry humble and down to earth. Sometimes people don't understand that they are very busy so they can't respond to everyone or sign every autograph. I know if they could they would. They also look out for their people and are very supportive.. (J-RoMeO)
2. I love your two braids but any reasoning behind why you have those in many of your shows and appearances like the Rihanna, Toby Love, and Prince Royce videos? (Tamara)
LOL.... well the reasoning behind my "trademark 2 braids" is that they take no more than 5 minutes to get done and that goes good with my schedule. While I was touring and doing some of these music videos I was also in College and interning. Where I interned I needed to look professional, and im not saying braids can not look professional but I did not want to intern with my braids left in. I also did not have time to get my hair braided with designs and so on for all these shows and videos cause my schedule is always jam packed . (J-RoMeO)

4. Do you consider yourself the best dancer? (Jonathan)
LOL..NOT AT ALL !!!! I do not consider myself the best. I always feel I can improve some how. I also feel that their are so many great dancers that are more talented than I am and some dancers who had the opportunity to train for years. I just began training to become a better dancer and more versatile with the different styles of dance. (J-RoMeO) |
5. What did you like doing more with Toby Love, Track shows or Band shows? (Sal)
Well for those of you who do not know the difference , a track show is done with the artist(s) and a DJ who would play the tracks. A band show is basically a show with the artist(s) and the band. To answer your question Sal I enjoyed the band shows with Toby Love more
because I became close with the band members on tour and they were like brothers to me. We had alot of fun and they made the tour and shows more exciting. The stories, the pranks, the jokes... it was fun...................I also love live music. (J-RoMeO)
6. Why weren't you in Stomp the Yard 2 and do you think their will ever be a movie that shows LATINOS stepping ? (Anna)
I was contacted by the Director and Casting but the direction of the film changed so unfortunately I was not casted. Some of the movies do cast Latino and non Black/Latino steppers but they usually are not the main characters. Hopefully one day, even if it's not me, a movie cast a Latino or even a different race as one of the main characters to show the world everyone can step n stroll... (J-RoMeO)
7. Do you think stepping and strolling will become more popular in
movies ? (Justine)
I sure hope so..... I think it would become popular if more people ask for it and become more interested in this style of Dance. (J-RoMeO)
8. Are you with an Agency ? (Andrea)
Yes, I am currently with BLOC Agency (J-RoMeO)
9. When you meet or work with all these famous people do you get nervous or go crazy ? (Kimberly)
No i'm calm when I meet anyone at that level. They are regular people like you and I so I don't get nervous or crazy. I also treat them like i treat my regular friends. (J-RoMeO)
10. Who's your favorite Salsero/Salsera of our time ? (Evalisse)
I cant pick one but defffff Jerry Rivera, Marc Anthony and La India. The three of them amaze me. When I met them and heard them sing live I was blown away. Their voices are insane! (J-RoMeO)

11. I don’t know if you remember me but I went to school with you and heard you sing and you’re an amazing singer.. why don’t you be a Bachata Music Artist or even an R&B artist? In the Bachata game Toby Love has the voice looks and dancing locked down and Prince Royce has the looks. You have it all papi.. you look good, you can sing and dance. You also have a large following already its crazy my little cousin is eight and she knows who you are. There is no-one like you out right now .. (Lorena)
Thanks, I appreciate it. I been told that many times but I enjoy being behind the scenes. I am not ready or think I would be ready to live the life of a Music Artist. I love the fact that I can still go to the movies or down the block without security guards walking me places or everyone knowing me. I give these artists a lot of props because their lives change so drastically. Some people love that life but I know it’s not for me. The behind the scenes is much more fun to me. I like dancing and giving artist concepts or choreography for music videos or performances.
I also eventually want to open my own practice for either family or child counseling. I already have my degrees but I have a lot of work to do if I want to open my own practice. (J-RoMeO)
12. How did you have time to do what you do and be in college at the same time? (Tiny)
I never slept. If you ask some of these artist or people I worked with they would tell you that I always was typing a paper or studying on down times. I have this laptop which was my best friend on the long plane rides and at the hotels. I even brought my school work to sound checks. I love what I do but I always put my education first. There were many times that I was stressed out by having a 30 page paper to type and shows back to back but I remember that I am the one who chose to do what I do.
I decided that I wanted to do both so I had to make sure I gave my all to both even if it required me to not sleep when everyone else was sleeping or not have fun when everyone else was having fun. I graduated with a 3.945 GPA in a difficult program at school. I am very thankful and blessed to do both things at once.

13. What made you pledge a Fraternity?
(Fernando)
Honestly, when I was younger I remember watching TV shows and music artist stepping and I loved it. When I was in junior high school I got to see the Greek World (Fraternities and Sororities) and saw people dancing choreographed routines and I was like wowwww I want to do this. Once I got to college I saw the different frats and sororities and loved what they stood for and loved the stepping and strolling aspect of it.
I did my research and went to a few interest meetings and chose the best fraternity for me. People pledge organizations for many different reasons one very important reason is to network. If you’re apart of a Greek lettered organization your network pool becomes nationwide sometimes even world wide because your not only networking with your organization, you are networking with all Greeks. (J-RoMeO)
14. What does the “J” stand for in J-RoMeO?
(Fatima)
The “J” stands for my first name “J’sin” …Many people from a young age always called me Romeo but the industry had too many “Romeo’s” so the “J” was added to my stage name because I knew when people were calling or talking about me and not the other Romeos. Also working in the Bachata industry I got mistaken many times for Romeo from Aventura . Some Aventura fans even thought I was trying to pretend that I was Romeo so I constantly got hate messages like “YOUR FAKE” “YOUR NOT ROMEO” . Lol it was funny because I look nothing like Romeo but these people were so mad. (J-RoMeO)

15. When was the last time you chilled with Prince Royce? What was he wearing? What was he doing? Do you get mad that people always ask you about him? I won’t ask anymore if you get mad but I love you and him. (Prince Royce # Fan)
I chilled with him I think last week or the week before at our friends house in the Bronx. Lol I really don’t remember what he was wearing. He just came from the Europe tour so I guess he was just visiting close family and friends before he had to leave again to Chicago the next morning. No I don’t get mad that some of his fans ask me questions about him. Most of the time, I can’t answer those questions because I can’t tell you or basically I just don’t know. Too me it’s not annoying that people ask me questions because I don’t care but to others it may seem like you’re talking to them only because they know a person. But he is definitely doing his thing. (J-RoMeO) |
16. Do you answer all these questions or is someone else responding? (Leyah)
Yes I answer all the questions but i email it to someone to post it up on the website. If the question is too similar to one I already answered then that question doesn't even come to me. (J-RoMeO) |
17. You definitely branded yourself. You are he only dancer that I know that is being talked about like a Music Artist and actually looks like a Music Artist. What would you suggest to someone who wants to brand themselves like you did and get known? Also is it always good to have all this attention as just a dancer? (Johny B)
Thank You. I would definitely tell that person to be themselves. Have your own style and look. What helped me also was that I stood very humble, thankful, and grounded. I would also advise the person who is trying to brand themselves to network with all kinds of people and train in all kinds of dance genres as possible. The earlier you start training the better. I did not start training until recently and wished I trained as a kid.
To answer your other question, sometimes people do not want to work with you because all of the attention you are getting. Others may feel that you are trying to take the spotlight away from the artist or that you are trying to be an artist. Many others just dislike you because you get too much attention. These are some of the things I deal with but it is something that comes with the territory. For those who know me I never ask for attention and when I do get attention I am very humble about it. I am a humble and professional dude who does not walk around like I am better than the next person. Not to say that people like that do not exist in the industry, because they do. I can honestly say I am not one of those people. (J-RoMeO)
18. Do you own all the clothes that you have on these pictures? (Monique)
No, I own some of them but not all. Depends which picture you are talking about. (J-RoMeO) |
19. Do you have a girlfriend? (Yara)
No, I do not have a girlfriend right now but I am on the hunt for my wiffeee..lol Well i wouldn't say hunt because im not in search of a girlfriend right now but my eyes are open so if it happens it happens. (J-RoMeO) |
20. What is your zodiac sign? (Yara )
Capricorn (J-RoMeO) |
21. If you were given a chance to play a role in a throw back movie which era would you want to do? (Tim B.)
60’s 70’s I think the music was amazing and it would be cool to portray someone in a generation that I wasn’t even born yet. This was my parent’s generation as kids and looking at old pics the style and the music is very rich and live. I’m a 80’s baby and would love to do that also but getting to portray someone in the 60’s 70’s would be
fun! (J-RoMeO)
22. Looking at vids I always see you dance with Gio when you dance with Toby. She is a great dancer too. Having her on the road was it weird her being the only female?
(Laura)
Yea Gio is amazing. She is definitely a great dancer and I loved doing shows with her. Toby has different dancers but I was
normally matched up with Gio when we did shows. She is mad chill mad funny and I learned some things from her. Most of the time she was the only female on the road with us but it wasn’t weird. She looked like the only G with all these guys looking over her. She was like a sister to us so we always made sure she was ok and stuff. But I have mad funny stories wit Gio. That’s my homie right there…
(J-RoMeO)
23. Do you plan to dance and choreograph for
ever? (Laura)
No, I am eventually getting into Counseling. That’s what I went to school for and I think that’s what God put me on this earth to do. I am a good person to talk to so counseling is the field for me. (J-RoMeO)

24. What is one thing you wished people knew about you? What is one thing people would not know or expect from you? What is one thing you want to leave behind that people remember you for? (Jessica)
Wow, let me first say your questions are on point. You should be the next Oprah cause these are very good questions. One thing I
wished people knew about me is that I AM NOT CONCEITED! I hear many times that this one and that one think im this conceited mean person who thinks im better than everyone. I am a humble low key quiet dude. I know on stage they see a different person but off stage im really to myself. I been this way all my life and sometimes people just don’t understand that im two different people on stage and off. As far as the mean part that is so not me. I may be misconstrued because I am very demanding of people who work with me. I push people to become better. If something is not right I will tell that person where they need to improve. I am a hard worker and I make my teams work hard also. So to everyone reading this, Im humble say hi to me …lol
One thing people would probably not know about me is that I have 3 degrees that have nothing to do with the entertainment industry. It’s not something I brag about but something I am very proud of. I worked my butt off in school and it means a lot to me because I know I accomplished something that I always wanted to accomplish. I also changed part of the statistic and a low rate of Latinos or Minorities to graduate from College.
One thing I want to leave behind that people would remember me is for being a hard worker who came from the bottom and strived to
reach the top. I would also like to be remembered in making a difference in the world somehow….
25. Is your Love life affected by what you do? (Yessenia)
LOL, yea. To me it is maybe not to others. Right now I am very focused on my goals and responsibilities and I am always busy. I barely see my family because my schedule is so hectic. It’s hard to find a girl who understands what I do and my schedule. (J-RoMeO)
26. Do you consider yourself as a perfectionist how everyone has stated you to be? (Yessenia)
There is no such thing as a perfectionist because no-one can be perfect. I think I come really close to wanting everything to be the best and being perfect but I know that is impossible. (J-RoMeO)

27. Are you scared your website might be too
much for some other dancers or other people?
(Tiana)
I know that not everyone is going to like this website. Some people are going to think it is too much for a dancer who just started training and dancing professionally. I also know some people are going to say they love the site but really don’t. What people have to understand is that you are never going to satisfy everyone and you will always have someone wanting to bring you down. That’s life. It took me awhile to give the green light to having a website but I think I made the right choice. Hopefully some of ya like it :) (J-RoMeO)
28. The videos being posted on people’s facebook walls and twitter, is someone else posting them because I just saw you and you are obviously not posting them through your phone?
(Ariana)
Yes, I have a promoting team that is helping me promote the hall of fame videos. They are a great help because I have no time to do it and I think I would go crazy posting it on everyone’s walls. I would also feel bad because some people don’t want to be bothered with stuff that doesn’t relate to them. The people helping me are only posting the videos. It is always me responding to people’s comments or messages. (J-RoMeO)
29. Do you get sick of dancing sometimes? (Melo)
No, dancing is my medicine and what keeps me going. Sometimes I do get fed up with certain people in the dance community or in the entertainment industry but I do not let people or factors stop me from doing what I love to do. (J-RoMeO)

30. Why do black fraternities and sororities hate on Latino fraternities and sororities who step and stroll? (Melo)
Let me first say that not all Black organizations hate on non black organizations that step and stroll. I met many Greeks who embrace and love the fact that there are other organizations that step and stroll. To answer your question, there are some Greeks that do not know all the history of stepping, strolling and about different cultures. These type of Greeks who feel stepping is not for everyone are close minded. Some feel stepping is only for Black Greeks. Some feel Latinos, Asians, and Whites stole this dance form. Notice I stated “some Black greek members” and not “Black organizations”. Black orgs, specifically Phi Beta Sigma started stepping in the late 1950’s and the first non Black organization started stepping in the 1970’s which was my fraternity that I am apart of. Media has yet to portray other fraternities and sororities that step. Hopefully that will change soon.
